Tapering - From top towards bottom which provides perfect setting, tapering is 0.5 cm to 1.5 cm, on an average 1 cm, e.g. top is 10×10 cm then bottom will be either 9×9 cm or 8.5×8.5 cm. Tapering effect is directly proportional to height of the cobble. More the height more the tapering and less the height less the tapering.
